YouTube was founded in on Valentine’s day in 2005 and in November 2006, it was bought by Google for $1.65 billion dollars, nice!

YouTube is a video sharing website, which in the beginning was targeted to the everyday consumer. Now, more and more organisations and businesses are using YouTube as a platform, to share their videos and content. Every industry is recording videos, with both small and large budgets for recording and uploading videos onto YouTube.

Videos are another form of content. People love watching short and snappy videos on their way home on the bus, on their lunch at work or on the sofa having a lazy Sunday! Video content is as important as your written content and should be part of your overall marketing plan.

A fantastic example of a channel on YouTube is Sainsbury’s. They have a YouTube channel with videos sharing recipes, featuring their clothes range and words from the staff at Sainsbury’s. This is what their channel looks like:
