Charity football tournament
Early this year, BCS decided we should have a chosen charity that we are going to be raising money for throughout the year. The team voted and we chose Pilgrims Hospices.
Pilgrim Hospice is east Kent’s largest hospice charity. They help people facing incurable illness to live well in every moment – mind and body. With the expert care and guidance, Pilgrims offers, helps people who are seriously ill manage their symptoms so you can enjoy time with family and friends, supporting people stay independent at home.
Our training coordinator Eden thought it would be a brilliant idea to put on a charity football tournament in aid of Pilgrims. The tournament included 6-a-side teams split into two groups, followed by knockout stages, a 3rd place playoff and the final!
The date was set, the teams were ready. All that awaited was a few goals and glory!
Our participants were:
- Your Leisure
- Hive EAS
- Barry Shuttle
- Turning Point
- Westgate Security
- United Lift Services
After an intense group stage, the knockouts came around with the quality of the games increasing tenfold.
Then came the final. Hive EAS and Your Leisure battled it out in a hard fought contest, but Hive EAS came out on top with a 2-0 victory. Well done Hive EAS!
We raised lots of money for Pilgrims Hospices. Thank you to everyone who supported our event, all the teams who played and their family members who came and support us. A massive thank you to all the BCS colleagues who helped on the day, especially Kate! Thank you, CDC Insurance, for providing cover for the day and thank you to Minster Parish for the use of their All Weather Pitch. Finally, a massive thank you to Adrian Smith from Hilger Crystals (also our very own Kate’s husband) for snapping some excellent action shots during the day!
Here’s to next year!
